Role of Transcarotid Artery Revascularization (TCAR) as a Carotid Revascularization Option

چکیده

Transcarotid artery revascularization (TCAR) is a hybrid carotid procedure in which stenting accomplished by making an incision at the base of neck & surgically exposing common artery. The evidence for TCAR safety efficacy comes from PROOF, ROADSTER, ROADSTER 2 studies. Society Vascular Surgery guidelines treatment disease (2022) opine to be least equivalent Carotid Endarterectomy (CEA) terms efficacy, with some potential improvements. In comparison Transfemoral Artery Stenting (TF-CAS), overall data demonstrates better outcomes TCAR. high-risk subjects like elderly more symptomatic patients higher concurrent medical comorbidities, fact appears preferable both CEA TF-CAS. Whereas this technique safe short-term, long-term vessel patency requires prospective follow-up

[Internal carotid artery revascularization].

Carotid endarterectomy remains the standard revascularization technique for the prevention of ischemic stroke resulting from severe carotid stenosis. Surgery is highly beneficial in patients with a symptomatic stenosis of 70% or greater that is not a total or near-total occlusion. The benefit becomes more diluted in patients with a symptomatic 50-69% stenosis, and surgery has no effect, or even...

Ophthalmic Artery Occlusion After Carotid Revascularization

Distal embolization resulting from carotid angioplasty and stenting (CAS) occurs mainly in the cerebral hemisphere. We report a case of ophthalmic artery occlusion after carotid revascularization. A 75-year old man received emergency CAS for cervical internal carotid artery occlusion. Two months later, the patient was readmitted for decreased visual acuity. We found ophthalmic artery occlusion ...

Peripheral Artery Disease Extracranial Carotid Disease Revascularization

Extracranial carotid artery stenosis is a factor in 20% to 30% of all strokes.1,2 Revascularization strategies using surgical carotid endarterectomy (CEA) or carotid artery stenting (CAS) offer the possibility of stroke prevention by restoring flow and mitigating the risk for future plaqueassociated embolization. Numerous studies have assessed whether these procedures reduce the risk for stroke...
